Beverly Hills Hotel.

Image
This iconic hotel is one of my favorite hotels ever. You can still feel the energy of old Hollywood here. Back in the day folks would come here to pick up the paper and have a cup of coffee , it was a local hang out and not just for the celebrities.  While having breakfast in the fountain room a tourist/visitor decided to take a photo of me.. Honey I'm not Elizabeth Taylor but this hotel does make you feel like white diamonds.

It Happned One Night

Image
Franklin Park Canyon is one of the locations where It Happened One Night filmed, you can visit the pond where they swam across even! This is one of my favorite movies and I love the Hitchhiking scene,  I decided to pay homage to good ol Claudette Colbert which happens to be my Husbands number one old Hollywood crush. Photos were taken at Franklin Canyon Park, many movies have been filmed here, its really a great park 7 miles from Hollywood but it makes one feel you are in the country :) My Dress is from the 1930s, and is absolutely one of my favorites in my closet! I hope you enjoyed the photos, blogger was giving me some trouble so I apologize for the jumpy layout..  Photos taken by my husband and edited by me.

a Few old movie Studios.

Image
A lot has changed since I made movies in the 30s.. of course the photo above is me on a whim. My favorite thing about Hollywood is seeing all the old studios. Check out this link to read about the studios being haunted http://www.prairieghosts.com/hollywood5.html Outside the old Mack Sennett Studios The above three photos are the old studios of United Artists. The last photo is so cool because the old plaque is still there. The original studio was founded in 1919 by  D. W. Griffith ,  Charlie Chaplin ,  Mary Pickford , and  Douglas Fairbanks

Max Factor

Image
Visiting the Max Factor building.....its such a beautiful place. A little history on Max Factor- He created appearances for actresses such as Clara Bows heart shaped lips, he also created shades special for the starlets. Some of his clients included- Valentino,Mary Pickford, Pola Negri, Jean Harlow, Claudette Colbert.. to name a few!! The 'Beauty Calibration', its the only one in existence. To put it simple, this wire cage pinpointed where facial corrections needed to be made.  Makeup in Brunette room.  Again in the Brunette Room, Claudette Colbert cut the ribbon on its opening. "Brownette room"  better known as Judy Garlands room.  Here we have Marilyn Monroe's makeup and where she became a blonde.  The "brownette room" was my favorite and I love green ;) Lucy became a redhead in this room.  All the make up you see here was Lucille Ball's So many Starl...

Hollywood and Vine

Image
Here are a few photos of the past on hollywood and vine                                      Beginning in the 1920s, during the Golden Age of Hollywood, the area began to see an influx of money and influence as movie and music businesses began to move in, turning the local farms and orchards into movie backlots. Hollywood and Vine was the second busiest intersection in the area. You can still see Trolly tracks on the streets of Hollywood.. Above.. Hollywood and Vine as it is today... you can see the taft building behind me.. Charlie Chaplin had an office there.  Charles Boyer's star right in front of me.
